To all enrolled HCHS families and to those wishing to enroll for the 2020-2021 School Year:

We have some important updates to share that highlight changes that we are implementing for the upcoming school year.  These changes are due to the NYS Guidance, Department of Health requirements and Office of Head Start expectations, to ensure the safety of all HCHS children, staff and families.

  • We are limiting our class sizes to 10 children per room
  • We have put procedures into place for dropping off and picking up your child to ensure social distancing and to limit foot traffic in our schools (each school will send home their specific procedure for this)
  • All parents, staff and children must wear a mask upon entering the school buildings.
  • We have enhanced our health screenings to include a temperature check and the completion of a COVID screening questionnaire.
  • We are limiting visitors into the building to essential visitors only.
  • We have amplified our daily cleaning efforts: while this is part of our normal routine, there will be additional efforts made to disinfect the classrooms, gross motor spaces and high traffic areas, paying special attention to door knobs, phones, tables, chairs, keyboards, light switches, and handrails.
  • Toothbrushing will be temporarily suspended.
  • Family style meals will be temporarily suspended.  Food will be plated for the children by the teaching staff.
  • Emergency procedures have been developed in the event of a positive COVID-19 case.
  • In the event that we are forced to provide to provide schooling at home, an online curriculum is being developed.
