Services
- Nutrition
Children in Head Start receive 1/3-1/2 of their daily
nutritional needs. They get a meal upon arrival, so please do not feed
your child before school. Children attending the morning sessions are
given breakfast and lunch. Those attending the afternoon sessions are
given lunch and a snack. Extended and full day classes receive breakfast,
lunch and a snack. If your child is late and hasn’t eaten, he/she
will be offered breakfast/lunch.
Meals are served family style. Parents are welcome to join their child
for a meal at any time.
We are a sponsor of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). We
must follow specific menu requirements.
If your child is on a special diet due to religious reasons, a note from
the parent/guardian is needed stating what it is we should eliminate.
Appropriate menu substitutions will made.
If your child is on a special diet due to medical reasons (an allergy
to certain foods) a doctor’s note is needed. The note should state
the food the child cannot have and a substitute. For instance if your
child is lactose intolerant, the note should state what can be substituted
for the milk.
CANDY AND SWEETS IN SCHOOL
Head Start regulations restrict us from permitting parents to bring cakes,
cupcakes, candy, etc. into school for birthdays or other celebrations.
Therefore, we request that you do not do so for your child’s birthday.
Items will be returned should they be sent. Your cooperation will be greatly
appreciated.
